The year 2005 celebrated the 400th anniversary of Guy Fawkes Night (Guy Fawkes and a group of co-conspirators plotted to blow up the parliament building in England). It is called Bonfire Night in Newfoundland. I remember as soon as Sept. came every afternoon after school, it was time to cut boughs and maybe scrounge a few tires in anticipation of Nov. 5th.
